PREMIER LEAGUE WEEK 3 PREDICTIONS

So who would have thought it? Huddersfield at the top of the Premier League alongside Man United. An incredible story. 2 wins out of 2 for the new boys. Can they make it 3?

United looking strong and setting a searing pace so far. Will Mourinho’s men keep that up? The champions, Chelsea, bounced back from their opening day disaster with a tremendous win over Spurs in the first ever Premier League game at Wembley.

So many other great stories from another gripping weekend in the Premier League. Week 3 is almost upon us. The final week before the first international break of the season. Here we go with my predictions….

SATURDAY

BOURNEMOUTH 1 MAN CITY 3   Terrible start to the season so far for Eddie Howe’s men. Two defeats and no goals scored. City are not the opponents you want when you’re trying to bounce back from such a run. I fancy the Cherries to get on the scoresheet at last but Pep Guardiola’s men will be too strong in this one.

C PALACE 2 SWANSEA 1    It’s been a tough baptism of fire for Palace boss, Frank de Boer so far. Just like Bournemouth they’ve had two defeats and no goals scored. Palace have too much quality for this run to continue for too much longer. The fitness of Wilfried Zaha will be key to the outcome of this one. If he’s fit, I fancy the Eagles here.

The Swans were unlucky to lose so heavily to United last week and will be desperate to get back on track. This is almost a six-pointer for both teams this early in the season.

HUDDERSFIELD 1 SOUTHAMPTON 2   I was going to pick a draw but I just fancy the Saints to crash the new boys party in this one. David Wagner’s boys have been a breath of fresh air this past fortnight. They’ve played some excellent football and fully deserve all their plaudits so far.

The Saints can hurt anyone on their day. They got their first win last week sneaking through against the Hammers and I see them getting another’s here by the odd goal in three.

NEWCASTLE 1 WEST HAM 2   It’s been an horrific start for Rafa Benitez and the Toon Army. No points and they’re out of the EFL Cup. They’re in freefall and it has to stop. The Hammers were so unlucky at the Saints last week. Chicharito done what he does so well and poached a brace. Even without suspended strike partner, Marko Arnautovic, I see him scoring again.

WATFORD 2 BRIGHTON 0   The Hornets looked good last week at Bournemouth. Their new signings have gelled pretty well so far. Richarlison looks a good player and Andre Gray has settled in well too.

Brighton have worked hard but they do look a little short at this level. They need a turn in their fortunes or this could be a long season for them.

MAN UTD 3 LEICESTER 2   This is a very interesting game. United have looked tremendous so far but I think this will be their first real test. I expect them to score but I also expect their defence to be put under some real pressure. Jamie Vardy looks razor sharp and Riyad Mahrez has shown some great touches. Would love to see Leicester pull this off but I have to go with the home side.

SUNDAY

CHELSEA 1 EVERTON 1   This has got draw written all over it. It’ll probably end up 3-3 now I’ve said that. I think both teams will nullify the other. I expect a tight game. Both had excellent results last weekend. Wayne Rooney looks like a man reborn with his boyhood idols. Really interesting game in prospect.

WBA 1 STOKE 0   You have to give Tony Pulis respect. You know how his teams are going to play. Well organised, strong, functional teams but always effective. Two wins out of two both 1-0. The perfect Pulis scenario. Great result for Stoke last week against the Gunners but I think Pulis’s men get their third win in a row in this one.

LIVERPOOL 3 ARSENAL 1   Really encouraged by my Reds so far this season. Excellent performance to beat Hoffenheim in midweek. That front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah look irresistible right now and I just don’t see the Gunners stopping them.

We all know how good Arsenal can be going forward but their soft underbelly still exists as witnessed at Stoke last week. Their talisman, Alexis Sanchez is set to return but it will be all in vain in my opinion.

SPURS 3 BURNLEY 0   Spurs were very unlucky to lose against Chelsea last week. They were the better side. They will open their Wembley account at some point and I believe it will be here.

After their opening day heroics, Burnley came crashing down to earth with their home defeat to West Brom. Will London be kind to them again? I can’t see it. Harry Kane is yet to score. Somehow I think this will change on Sunday.

Poor week again for me last week. I finished 4-6 again which leaves me 8-12 on the second season so far. Not good enough. Must put things right this week.

That’s it from me. Thanks for reading.
