PREDICTIONS WEEK 4

The international break is over thank god. The mighty Premier League is back. Some fabulous games this weekend. Here are my predictions……..

SATURDAY

MAN CITY 1 LIVERPOOL 2  As a Red I must admit I am feeling good about my team. We are playing with so much confidence. All our players have come back from international duty fit and raring to go. We’ve also added Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and things are looking good.

Our recent record against City is excellent but they haven’t looked too bad so far this season themselves. They were most people’s favourites before the season and they’ve done nothing so far to change those minds.

This is a massive game. So much quality on show but I really fancy us in this one. That front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah have been irresistible this season and they will be the difference.

ARSENAL 3 BOURNEMOUTH 1   Let’s be honest Arsenal are a mess! They have been awful and that’s being kind. The international break probably came at a good time for them. The good thing for them is the state of Bournemouth who have had an even worst start to the season. Eddie Howe’s men have lost all of their games so far. At least the Gunners won their first game.

The home fans will expect a response after the Liverpool debacle and I think they’ll get one. Lacazette to score for me.

BRIGHTON 0 WBA 1   The new boys have really struggled so far, especially in front of goal. No goals scored in the first three games. The lack of a new striker being bought in the transfer window will come back to bite them.

Tony Pulis and his team have ground out 7 points so far with two 1-0 wins and a draw. Typical Pulis. I see a third 1-0 win for the Baggies.

EVERTON 1 SPURS 1   Cracking game in prospect. Another big test for Ronald Koeman’s new-look Everton side. Will Rooney start after his latest brush with the law.

Can Spurs bounce back after their recent disappointments at Wembley? I see a tight affair that will ultimately end in a stalemate.

LEICESTER 3 CHELSEA 2   Just have a feeling for the home side here. Jamie Vardy looked sharp before the break and they kept Riyad Mahrez. Chelsea have looked like the team from last season after the shock of the Burnley defeat in the opener.

SOUTHAMPTON 2 WATFORD 2   I think Watford could be the surprise package this season. They have played some good stuff so far and Marco Silva looks to be moulding a decent outfit.

The Saints especially being at home will be expected to win but I fancy the Hornets to take something from this.

STOKE 1 MAN UTD 1   Strange things tend to happen after international breaks. United have been tremendous so far but I think Stoke can get something out of this. United are a powerful side but they will meet their match in Stoke.

SUNDAY

BURNLEY 1 C PALACE 2   Horrendous start for Palace so far. The question is do the players still want to play for Frank de Boer? This could be make-or-break for him. Turf Moor is one of the more difficult places to grind out a result. I think the Eagles get it right in this one.

SWANSEA 2 NEWCASTLE UTD 1   Big wins for both last time out. The Swans at Palace and the Toon at home to the Hammers. Home advantage to win out here.

MONDAY

WEST HAM 2 HUDDERSFIELD 1   Such high hopes for the Hammers before the season but now it’s all doom and gloom. Three bad defeats all away from home. Contrast that with the form of Huddersfield. 7 points out of 9 and third place in the league. It’s been a fairytale for David Wagner’s men.

Huge pressure on Slaven Bilic in their first home game of the season. No hiding place here. This will be on Monday Night Football. I think the Hammers bounce back to get the win.

Another terrible week for me last time out. I’m beginning to think I should give up this prediction lark. I finished on 3-7 which makes me 11-19 on the season so far.

See you next time.
